SQLFlow: PL/SQL Multi-Diagrammatic Source Code Visualization
نویسندگان
چکیده
A major problem in software maintenance is the lack of a well-documented source code in software applications. This has led to serious difficulties in software maintenance and evolution. In particular, for those developers who are faced with the task of fixing or modifying a piece of code they never even knew existed before. Database triggers and procedures are parts of almost every application, are typical examples of badly documented software components being the hidden back end of software applications. Source code visualization is one of the heavily used techniques in the literature so as to familiarize software developers with new source code, and compensate for the knowledge-sharing problem. Therefore, a new PL/SQL flowcharting reverse engineering tool, SQLFlow, has been designed and developed. SQLFlow is a three tiers architecture tool that dominates over the currently available flowcharting tools by its powerful multi-diagrammatic and source code metrics extraction capabilities. Finally, future work is planned to integrate SQLFlow with the UML modelling standards in the software industry.

Protecting oracle pl/sql source code from a dba user
In this paper we are presenting a new way to disable DDL statements on some specific PL/SQL procedures to a dba user in the Oracle database. Nowadays dba users have access to a lot of data and source code even if they do not have legal permissions to see or modify them. With this method we can disable the ability to execute DDL and DML statements on some specific pl/sql procedures from every Or...

Database application constitutes one of the largest and most important software domains in the world. Some classes or modules in such applications are responsible for database operations. Structured Query Language (SQL) is used to communicate with database middleware in these classes or modules. It can be issued interactively or embedded in a host language. This paper aims to predict the softwa...

متن کاملHarvesting Software Systems for MDA-Based Reengineering
In this paper we report on a feasibility study in reengineering legacy systems towards a model-driven architecture (MDA). Steps in our approach consist of (1) parsing the source code of the legacy system according to a grammar; (2) mapping the abstract syntax trees thus obtained to a grammar model that is defined in the Meta-Object Facility (MOF); (3) using model to model (M2M) transformations ...
متن کاملFunctions Are Data Too (Defunctionalization for PL/SQL)
We demonstrate a full-fledged implementation of first-class functions for the widely used PL/SQL database programming language. Functions are treated as regular data items that may be (1) constructed at query runtime, (2) stored in and retrieved from tables, (3) assigned to variables, and (4) passed to and from other (higher-order) functions. The resulting PL/SQL dialect concisely and elegantly...
